Mangaluru: Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil has directed the police to seize those buses which stop in the middle of the road and allow public to board them.
It is very common to see the private bus drivers stop their vehicle whenever and wherever passengers want to board the bus or alight from it, which causes traffic jams. Such practice leads to freak accidents too. Raising this issue in the weekly phone-in-programme, a caller demanded action against such buses.
Responding to it, Commissioner of Police Sandeep Patil directed the police to seize those buses which violate the guidelines. He instructed that the buses should stop at their designated stops and not allow passengers anywhere they want.
Patil also asked police to book cases against over-speeding bus drivers. “Repeated warnings have been issued to the bus drivers in this regard, but over-speeding is still in practice”, he lamented.
