Mangaluru: The Mangaluru police are investigating reports of ISIS group imparting training to youths at B C Road after an audio file, claiming the presence of ISIS in the region, started doing rounds in the city.
The audio reportedly has a conversation that has taken between leaders of a city-based organisation in Beary language and claims that few engineering graduates from the area have been influenced by the group’s ideologies and may possibly move to Yemen, which is the hub of the terror group.
However, the veracity of this audio is yet to be confirmed.
Meanwhile, people have expressed their fear over the group making its inroads in the city as few youths from nearby Kerala are known to have joined the group.
A US home department report earlier had named Armar, a native of Bhatkal to be chief recruiter of Islamic State in India. IM operative Yasin Bhatkal too hailed from the region and reports of discreet operations and manufacturing of explosives were reported from here.
