: BJP’s state leadership is all set to receive a defamation suit from Mangaluru Corporator Prathiba Kulai for misusing her name and picture in the BJP’s recently released “charge sheet” against the ruling Congress government.

Addressing a press meet here, Prathibha Kulai said that she had sought legal opinion and also discussed the issue with City police commissioner and since the latter has suggested to file a civil case, she will be filing a defamation suit through her lawyer Arun Bangera at Mangalore Civil Court against Union Minister Ravishanker Prasad, BJP State President B S Yeddyurappa and MP Shobha Karandlaje who released the booklet in an event in Bangalore.

“The BJP has not tendered any apology on this goof-up and neither am I expecting it. I won’t forgive them for the same as this has dented my image,” she said calling upon voters of Karnataka to vote BJP out.

“This is the party which could not handle a booklet efficiently and they are talking about managing the state,” she said.

It can be recalled that a charge sheet published by the BJP as a pamphlet and released by union minister Ravishankar Prasad has several allegations against the Congress party. The charge sheet mentions that women corporators of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) too are unsafe, pointing at the incident of how sari worn by JD(S) corporator Manjula Narayanaswamy was pulled.

It says that BJP corporator Mamata Vasudev is facing harassment regularly at the hands of supporters of MLA Muniratna, and that false cases are being lodged. Inspite of these things, Congress leaders are turning a blind eye, the pamphlet says, which in addition, also contains several other allegations.

Perhaps by oversight, the party has published the photograph of Mangalore city corporator Prathibha Kulai, instead of BBMP corporator. Moreover, this photo has been captured from the video clip aired by a television channel.

Prathibha has since filed complaint with the city police commissioner. She has sought action against Ravishankar Prasad, B S Yeddurappa, and Shobha Karandlaje, holding them directly responsible for this blunder and sought legal action against them.

On being asked about recent show cause notice issued by the party district office for attending a TV show, she said that it was her personal issue and since her personal respect was at stake she attended the TV show and the same thing has been conveyed to the party heads.

Niraj Chandra Pal, general secretary of Dakshina Kannada district Congress was present.
