Mangaluru: A day after the BJP protested alleging that Mangaluru North MLA Moideen Bava had donated notebooks with his pictures on them to school children in north constituency with an intention of political gains, Mangaluru Corporator Prathibha Kulai questioned the book distribution done by the Hebbal BJP MLA Y A Narayanaswamy.

The books have the images of Narayanaswamy along with his wife, BJP party symbol and Narendra Modi.

“What is the stand of BJP on their MLA Narayanaswamy distributing the notebooks with these images on them to the school children in Hebbal ?”

Showing the books to media, she said, “The books are completely saffron in colour. There is no Congress party symbol in the books donated by Moideen Bava. BJP leaders are politicising the issue. This is not first time that Moideen Bava distributed the books to the schools. Every year during his birthday he does it. The children who received the books are not voters. There is no politics in distribution of books”, she added.

“The books are useful to children and it is was given to them. Children do not go to cast vote. With an intention that the children in the constituency know about their MLA, the books were distributed. If there is a need for books in schools of any other constituency, they can contact the MLA’s office”, she said.

MCC members Mohammed, Shakunthala, Keshava Sanil and Utham Alva were present during the press meet.
