Bantwal: In a tragic yet bizarre incident, a couple committed suicide moments after calling their son and informing him about their intentions. The incident occurred in Maninalkur Pattanadi near here on Thursday, November 22.
The deceased have been identified as Premanath Poojary and his wife, Chandravathi.
It is learnt that Premanath killed himself by tying a rope around his neck and jumping into the well of their house. Chandravathi, on the other hand, hanged herself from the wooden log attached to the roof of their house.
Sources have said that the couple committed suicide soon after calling their son in the morning. It is learnt that the couple fought almost daily and people suspect that this may be the reason for the double suicide.
The Bantwal Rural Police have registered a case.
