Mangaluru: As a precautionary measure to prevent spreading COVID-19 and cholera disease, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde has directed MCC officials to conduct raids to clear street side eateries.

In a circular to health and revenue officials issued by the MCC Commissioner, it is stated that both health and revenue officials should constitute different teams to launch raids to clear street-side eateries.

Necessary security arrangements, including videography of the raids must be taken prior to starting the riad, he said adding that stern action will be taken against those trying to obstruct the raid.

Meanwhile, health officials should also ensure that all hotels follow certain guidelines pertaining to cleanliness and the permit of hotels not adhering to the guidelines should be cancelled, the Municipal Commissioner added.
