COVID-19: DC declares Kakkebettu, Shakthinagar area a ‘Containment Zone’

Mangaluru: As two persons from the Shakthinagar area tested positive for COVID-19 today, Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh declared the Kakkebettua and Shakthinagar areas in the Padavu village as an active ‘Containment Zone’.

The total population of this Containment Zone is 120, which comprises 22 residential houses, four shops and an office. This Containment Zone is bound by Chittharanjan’s house in the East, Neelaksha’s house in the West, Thippeshappa’s house in the North and Ground (Gissela D Meta) in the South.

Meanwhile, a ‘Buffer Zone’ covering an area of 5 km around this Containment Zone has also been declared. This area is bordered by Vamanjoor Junction in the East, Urwa Market in the West, Padavinangady in the North and Bunts Hostel in the South.

This Buffer Zone comprises 4,800 residential houses, 1,315 shops and 35 offices. For the effective implementation of the COVID-19 virus control measures, MCC Commissioner Shanady Ajith Kumar Hegde has been appointed as the ‘Incident Commander’ and will be the overall in-charge of the Containment Zone. The Incident Commander will take necessary actions as specified in the Containment Zone.
