Covid-19: Guddekopla area in Surathkal sealed down after woman tests positive

Mangaluru: After a woman from Guddekopla near Surathkal tested positive for Covid-19 today, the district administration declared the Guddekopla area as a containment zone and measures were taken to seal down a five km radius of the area.

According to sources, the 68-year-old woman from Guddekopla had been admitted to a private hospital in the city a few days ago. As she had complained of breathing issues, as well as other health issues.

Her throat swabs were, therefore, sent for testing on May 13, the results of came which came back positive for COVID-19 today. Soon after her test reports came back positive, she was shifted to the Covid Wenlock Hospital.

The elderly woman neither had any contact with foreign returnees nor did she have contact with the First Neuro Hospital in Padil, which has been identified as a hotspot for Covid-19 recently.

Her family members are also clueless as to how she contracted the disease.

The district administration has been in the process of tracing her primary contacts and taking all appropriate measures to quarantine her contacts.

Measures have also been taken to quarantine the nurses and other health workers at the private hospital, where the woman was previously admitted.
