Speaking to the media persons on Sunday, March 22, he said that, of the 104 blood samples that were sent for testing, only one came back positive for COVID-19. “However, people should not panic. As the SSLC and PUC exams have been postponed, teachers have also been asked to go on leave. People should leave their homes only to purchase essential commodities like medicines, milk and groceries,” he said.

The Minister also informed that procedures are underway to trace those who travelled with the person who recently tested positive for COVID-19. “Strict action will be taken against those who return from abroad and ignore the health official’s directions to home quarantine themselves,” he said.
