Mangaluru: Amidst the COVID-19 scare, the Press Club Mangaluru has decided not to allow any press conferences till March 31.

Press club general secretary Mohammed Arif Padubidri, in a press release, informed that as COVID-19 positive cases have been found in the neighbouring districts of Kasargod and Kodagu, the Dakshina Kannada district administration and Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) have taken several preventive measures to ensure that no more people are infected with the novel coronavirus. Hence, the Press Club has also decided not to hold press conferences as a precautionary measure.

If press conferences are to be organised at the Patrika Bhavan, several people will be gathered at the place and there may be chances of the infection spreading further. Hence, no press conferences will be organised till March 31. Further decisions will be taken in this regard after March 31, the press release said.

Mohammed Arif also asked journalists to take utmost care while going out into the field. Journalists should take measures to protect themselves from being infected by the virus, he stressed.
