Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district responded positively to the complete lockdown, on Saturday, March 28, ordered by the district administration as a measure to stop the spread of COVID-19.
The busy Central Market was completely shut down in the morning when just a few days ago, it was kept open for retail shop owners to purchase grocery items. As a few vegetable-laden vehicles arrived at the market in the wee hours of Saturday, police allowed them to unload the produce and they were sent back.
Milk parlours were open in the morning and were shut after 9 AM. A few people, who were found wandering the streets, were sent back by the police.
Rural areas of the district also positively responded of the lockdown. However, medical shops and hospitals were kept open.
