Mangaluru: The Sixth Additional District and Sessions Court sentenced serial killer Cyanide Mohan with life imprisonment in two more murder cases on Wednesday, March 27.
With these two convictions, a total of nine cases were solved, among the total number of 20 murder cases filed against him.
What is the case?
Mohan Kumar met the 33-year-old victim of Peramogaru in Kedila village in Bantwal taluk. He introduced himself as Anand to her and took her to Madikeri on January 2009. After having sexual intercourse with her, he made her consume tablets laced with cyanide convincing her that they were contraceptives. He fled the spot after she died.
In another case, he took a 32-year-old woman from Peraje village in Madikeri Taluk to Mysuru on August 21, 2009, and killed her similarly. CID DySP had filed a charge sheet in both the cases at the Court.
When the case came for hearing at the Sixth Additional District and Sessions Court, Judge D T Puttaranga Swamy upheld the arguments of special Public Prosecutor Judith O M Crasta and sentenced the accused Mohan Kumar with life imprisonment and slapped a penalty of 18,000 on him in both the cases.
The judge also ruled that the family members of the victim are eligible to receive compensation from the District Legal Services Authority.
