DC directs not to start UG, PG offline classes before Sept 15

Mangaluru: Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K. V. has directed the special officials of Collegiate Education Department not to conduct any offline classes for the under graduate and postgraduate course till September 15.

“The Covid positivity rate in Dakshina Kannada has increased to 2.4%, so the colleges are informed to continue online classes,” he said.

Presiding over the meeting held here at DC office on Thursday August 26 he said, “the offline mode of education can be permitted in the district, only if the positivity rate will decline by September 15.

He further he said, batchwise offline practical classes can be held for Science stream students following Covid appropriate behaviour and other streams should strictly adhere to online mode.

DC stressed that all the Teaching, and Non-teaching staff of the college must get vaccinated.

Meanwhile, presiding over Child Helpline and Child Protection Committee meet he said, a pending of 165 cases in two Juvenile courts of the district has to be addressed soon and the funds granted to the ‘Juvenile justice fund’ has to be used, appropriately.

“The Child helpline number 1098 has been started for the protection of children and it should be given wider publicity and the information boards about helpline has to be displayed prominently at KSRTC bus stand and Railway stations, among others” he added.
