Mangaluru: In an attempt to stop the spread of coronavirus (covid-19), Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has ordered that the road on the Karnataka and Kerala border be sealed and closed for all kinds of traffic from Saturday, March 21 to March 31 midnight.

In a late-night order, DC Sindhu informed that no vehicles will be allowed to operate between the Dakshina Kannada and Kasargod districts during the said period. However, vehicles will be allowed only through the Talapady toll plaza on NH 66, in case of emergencies only.

It can be noted that our neighbouring district of Kasargod has reported six COVID-19 positive cases, due to which this precautionary measure has been taken up by the DK district administration. The DC’s order claims that many vehicles are plying between the Kasargod and DK districts, prompting a necessity to seal the border.
