Uppinangady: The sleuths of District Crime Investigation Branch, on September 8, have arrested two persons in connection with the murder of Unnikrishnan, a resident of Kerala state.

The accused are identified as Aurangzeb (37), a resident of Ernakulam, Kerala and Mohammad Shamnaz (23) of Palakkad district in Kerala State.

It may be recalled that on September 3, the police had traced an unidentified body in Kuppetti stream, in the limits of Uppinangady Police Station. In this connection, the police had also registered an unnatural death case in the police station.

Later, when the post-mortem report revealed that Unnikrishnan was murdered, his nephew had filed a murder case in the Uppinangady Police Station. Following this, the police nabbed Aurangzeb and Shamnaz and confiscated a car and mobile phones from the accused.

It is gathered that accused Aurangzeb (37) is a habitual offender and a rowdy sheeter who has various criminal cases against him including that of an attempt to murder and under Arms Act in Kerala.
