Dengue fever: 21 fresh cases reported again in DK district

Mangaluru: A total of 21 fresh cases of Dengue were reported in different parts of the Dakshina Kannada district on Monday, July 29.

With these 21 fresh cases of dengue, the number of cases reported in the district has crossed the 500. Despite, precautionary measures by the district administration, the number of cases have been shooting up.

Meanwhile, officials from the Health department and Mangaluru City Corporation visited houses at Urwa, Barke and Ashokangara areas on Monday and found water stagnating at the premises of some houses, construction sites and business outlets. Officials collected a total of Rs 45,000 from those who allowed mosquitoes to breed in their premises.

The health officials, during their visit noted that stagnation of water was being found at the houses of government servants and highly educated people also. It can be noted that during the ‘Dengue Drive Day’ campaign, the officials found larvae of dengue carrying ‘Aedes Aegypti’ mosquito at some government quarters in Kottara Chowki. Considering this, Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Selvamani R has warned that quarters facility given to them will be withdrawn if mosquito breeding was found again, during their next visit.
