Derogatory remarks: DK DC files case against Jagarana Vedike leader

Mangaluru: Hindu Jagarana Vedike Organisational Secretary Jagadish Karanth, who is known for giving provocative speeches, has yet again got himself into trouble.

Dr. Rajendra K. V., Deputy Commissioner, has filed a case at Punjalakatte Police Station against Jagadish Karanth for making derogatory remarks about him at Rudragiri Ranakahale, a public awareness programme and protest rally organised to highlight the need to stop quarrying activities near the Karinjeshwara Temple, Bantwal Taluk of Dakshina Kannada District. A case has been registered under IPC section 153, 117, 504, 506, and 189.

According to the sources, Jagadish in his speech slammed the DC of Dakshina Kannada, stating that they will gherao his office on December 21 if he did not stop stone quarrying around the Karinjeshwara Temple Hill by then.

He warned DC to stop stone quarrying or take a transfer. He also urged thousands of people to come and gherao DC’s office if necessary. Karanth used disrespectful language, and also gave a threat to a government employee. Further action will be taken as per the guidance Dakshina Kannada Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar.
