Mangaluru: In order to create awareness among people on dengue disease and to prevent people from falling victims to dengue, Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner S Sasikanth Senthil launched ‘Dengue Drive Day’ campaign at his residence in Balmatta on Sunday, July 28.
After inaugurating the campaign, Senthil said, “the campaign ‘Dengue Drive Day’ will be held every Sunday and people should voluntarily take up the responsibility of keeping their surroundings clean and clear the stagnated water in their premises. Dengue cases can be prevented only if people voluntarily participate in source reduction activities”.
Meanwhile, ‘signature campaign’ programme was also held at three shopping malls in the city like the City Centre, Bharath Mall and Forum Fiza Mall, so as to educate people about dengue disease. The students of Srinivas College organised ‘flash mob’ programme on the same occasion, in order to create awareness among the public.
District Health Officer M Ramakrishna Rao, Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) Commissioner Mohammed Nazir, celebrities like Prithwi Ambar and Navya Poojary were also present.
