Mangaluru: Speaking on the row over renaming the Light House Hill Road, Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner K G Jagadish in a meeting said that the district administration would form a four-member fact finding committee involving Mangaluru University Registrar, Mangaluru City Corporation Commissioner, Assistant Deputy Commissioner and Professor of History from University.The committee will collect the factual information and submit report to district administration. In the next meeting, on the basis of the report, district administration will take a decision.
District In-charge Minister B Ramanath Rai who presided over the meeting said it had been conveyed to solve the issue peacefully.
In the meeting, Mulki Sundaram Abhimanigala Balaga, St. Aloysius Institution and other organisations demanded renaming of Light House Hill road as per their demands but the district district administration decided to form a fact finding committee.
In the meeting new demands came up with the leaders of Sullia Amara Kranti Utsava Samiti also demanded that the road should be named as Bavuta Gudde Road and a Muslim organisation wanted it to be Idga Masjid Road.
MLA J R Lobo, Mayor Kavitha Sanil and MCC Commissioner Nazir were present in the meeting.
