DK adds : 27,740 Voters in Special Revision

Mangaluru:BR Mamatha, the Electoral Roll Observer and Inspector General of Registration, along with the Commissioner of Stamps, conducted a comprehensive verification of the voters’ list in Dakshina Kannada district. A meeting was convened at the deputy commissioner’s office on Sunday, where Mamatha chaired discussions with officials to ensure the accuracy of names and corrections in the voters’ list.

According to the draft voters’ list, Dakshina Kannada district has a total of 17,85,835 registered voters. Among them, 8,73,389 are men, 9,12,369 are women, and 77 identify as the third gender.

During the special revision of the electoral roll, 27,740 individuals newly enrolled, while 15,961 applied for corrections, and the names of 24,870 voters were removed from the list. Notably, the district comprises 22,511 young voters aged 18 to 19, along with 13,755 differently-abled individuals and 233 Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) in the voters’ list.

Following the meeting, Mamatha conducted inspections at various polling booths in Belthangady and Sullia assembly constituencies. She emphasized the importance of officials thoroughly reviewing the enrollment process for young voters and ensuring the accurate removal of deceased individuals from the voters’ list. Additionally, Mamatha assessed the basic amenities at the polling booths to ensure a smooth electoral process.
