Mangaluru: “A girl who had been missing for over five-years in a case registered in 2010 at Vittal police station, was found happily married with two kids. This was under the Operation Muskaan – a nation-wide initiative to reunite missing children with their parents”, informed SP Sharanappa at his office here on July 15.
In Dakshina Kannada alone, around 11 cases were registered in the last five years, under the initiative, out of which the district police has detected three cases of missing minors. Two were reunited with their parents while one was married and settled.
Sharanappa informed the media that the girl, who was traced by Puttur rural Circle Police Inspector Anil Kulkarni, was a minor when the case was registered.
As a part of Operation Muskaan, they are working on the remaining cases as per the directive issued by the Union ministry of women and child development, he added.
Likewise, a boy who was accommodated in a residential school ran away, was found in Goa following an extensive search around the State after the personnel from Vittal police tracked him down.
Sharanappa also mentioned that the police officials have take personal interest and devote a lot of attention in tracking down these missing children.
