Mangaluru: PU colleges in the Dakshina Kannada District will be started soon in a phased manner said Deputy Commissioner Rajendra K. V.
Addressing the meeting held on disaster management and Covid control in the DC office here on Monday August 23 he said, “the District Administration will permit the colleges to open for students, as some of the colleges have brought forth the necessity to conduct few classes to prepare students for competitive and common entrance tests.
However, the colleges will be started in a phased manner. We have instructed the colleges to quarantine the students. After students test negative in RT-PCR tests the classes can be started. The Covid Care Centre should be opened for students and regular health check-ups should be conducted, he added.
“We might allow the schools to open in the next two weeks after considering the situation of PU colleges. We will finalise this in the next meeting,” he added.
Further, he said, “the District will increase the Covid testing to 15,000 per day. It will help identify the patients and thus treat them on time. We have a good medical infrastructure to tackle the positivity rate, and manage the Covid outbreak, he added.
