Vittal: With the district witnessing heavy rains over the past one week and especially heavy and continuous rain over the last 48 hours, there are bound to be mini disasters. One such incident occurred near Babauta on Mangalapadav-Kodapadavu road near Vittal at around 10.30 pm on Saturday night. A portion of a hillock collapsed and fell on a house smashing it completely. The house occupants were injured in the incident.
A part of the hillock first fell on the kitchen. Hearing the sound, the house occupants ran outside, but by then the hillock fell on the whole house. The house is now unrecognizable according to locals.
It was the locals who rushed to the scene and rescued the inmates. There were 6 people in the house during the incident and two of them are majorly injured and are being treated at a hospital in Mangaluru. The other four were treated at the Vittal government hospital.
According to the locals, there are still 3 houses in the locality which face such danger.
