Doctors, nurses protest against violence from patients, relatives

Mangaluru: Condemning the recent cases of assault on doctors and hospital staff – the city doctors, nurses and medical students took out a protest rally from Netaji Yellappa Hospital to Rani Abbakka Circle at Ullal on Saturday August 29.

The protest was organised by Indian Medical Association(IMA) and Association of Medical Consultants, Mangalore (AMC) , Indian Dental Association also supported the protest.

Criticizing the incident of attack on doctors and staff at Yenepoya Hospital, Deralakatte on August 17, after a patient died due to acute kidney ailment, the protestors said, “The police has taken no regards to the incident, even as the mob assaulted the doctors, paramedical staff, and hospital staff and damaged furniture in the hospital, the police made no arrest, they stated.

The relatives of patients cannot resort to violence, under such unlikely situation, we try our level best to save the patients, such acts are unfair, said the protestors.   

Dr Mukund, Dr Polnaya, Dr Satish Bhat, Dr Ganapathi Bhat, Dr Manjunath Rai, Dr Bharath Shetty, Dr Prakash Harischandra, Dr Ullas Shetty, Dr Kishore Kumar, Dr Vaswani, and others were present.
