Mangaluru: Former MLA J R Lobo has warned MP Nalin Kumar Kateel against “blaming others”, in order to hide his own mistakes, on Tuesday, February 19.
In a reaction to MP Nalin Kumar Kateel’s allegation against minister U T Khader and J R Lobo for the delay in the completion of flyover work at Thokkottu and Pumpwell, Lobo convened a press conference and said that the delay in the completion of flyover work was due to negligence by Nalin. “He is playing politics with an eye on the next Lok Sabha elections. Nalin does not have any knowledge of the functioning on the National Highway Authority of Indian (NHAI)”, he alleged.
Lobo said, “I never intervened in the Pumpwell Flyover work as it comes under NHAI. Only an MP has a complete hold on the NHAI projects as it is controlled by the central government. But Nalin is trying to escape from his responsibilities by giving false information and framing allegations on the Congress party. Nalin has completely failed to understand the difficulties of people of Mangaluru and was never bothered about the slow pace of flyover work. He has failed to exert pressure on NHAI to complete the work”, he said.
“No new industry has been set up in the region for job creation and nor were measures taken to improve agriculture or upgrade the national highway. Has Nalin implemented any new project to create employment? Instead of creating job opportunities for the youth, the union government is trying to privatise Mangaluru International Airport (MIA), New Mangalore Port Trust (NMPT) among others”, he said.
Congress leaders Kallige Tharanath Shetty, T K Sudheer, Mariamma Thomas and Suresh Ballal among others were present.
