Mangaluru: The Block Education Officer (BEO) of the Mangaluru South Zone has cautioned of disciplinary action against any private education institution forcing parents to pay school fees.
BEO Jnanesh, in a press release, informed that the commissioner of the public instruction department has already issued a circular to private educational institutions asking them not to collect fees from parents if they are unable to pay. Even after this circular was issued, the Dakshina Kannda District Deputy Commissioner has been receiving complaints of parents being forced to cough up school fees.
“If any complaint regarding the suspension of students for non-payment of school fees is received, disciplinary action will be taken against the educational institution under the Right To Education (RTE) Act. Meanwhile, a report will also be submitted to the District Education Regulatory Authority in this regard,” he warned.
