Mangaluru: “Success is the ability to go from one failure to another with no loss of enthusiasm,” said St John’s National Academy of Health Sciences, Bengaluru Director Dr Paul Parathazam on Friday, January 24.
He was delivering convocation addressing during the graduation ceremony of Father Muller Medical College (FMMC), Father Muller College of Allied Health Sciences and Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing held at Father Muller Convention Centre.
Quoting the words of British Prime Minister Winston Churchill he asked the graduates to never give up at any circumstances.
“Churchill was poor in studies, but he achieved a high position. He was unable to clear his eighth standard exam even after three successive attempts. However, he never give up and finally succeeded in his attempt. Hence, we should not discontinue our effort. As we have only one life, we should achieve whatever we want to achieve in this life,” Paul said.
Presiding over the programme Bishop of Mangaluru Most Rev Dr Peter Paul Saldanha said, “Hard work is the code word of success. Father Muller Charitable Institutions is in its 140th year of fruitful service to humanity in the area of healthcare. Being health professionals, you should promote the culture of life, not the culture of death. Though the Supreme Court has recently awarded death penalty for the four people who had indulged in the heinous crime, we should not enjoy the death of anybody. We should create an atmosphere of caring and sharing each other and loving each other.”
A total of 404 graduates from various courses such as MBBS, PG/Diploma, M.Ch., Physiotherapy, Hospital Administration, Medical Laboratory Technolgy, Medical Imaging Technology, Radiotherapy and Speech and Hearing received their graduate certificates.
Meanwhile, students who secured ranks in Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) examinations for the year 2019 were presented certificates and medals. The president’s gold medal was awarded to Dr Shah Nawaz M, a best outgoing MBBS graduate for the year 2019. Rachel Elizabeth Johnson (Bachelor of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology) who secured overall rank in Mangalore University Examination was also honoured on the same occasion.
FMMC Dean Dr Jayaprakash Alva and Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing Principal Prof Akhilesh P M read out the annual report and later they administered oath to the graduates.
Father Muller Charitable Institutions Director Rev. Fr Richard A Coelho welcomed the gathering Father Muller Medical College Administrator Rev Fr Ajith B Menezes proposed vote of thanks. Father Muller Hospital Thumbe Fr Sylvester Vincent Lobo, FMMC administrator Fr Rudolph Ravi D’Sa among others were present.
