Mangaluru: The American Academy of Neurology (AAN) has chosen a doctor from city for its prestigious International Scholarship award. The student Dr. Salma Suhana is pursuing her DM (super speciality) in Neurology at SSIMS and RC Medical College in Davanagere, currently.
Awards are not something new for Dr. Salma. She is a recepient of gold medal from the Fr Muller’s Medical College in Mangaluru as the best medical student and two gold medals from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in MBBS. She has done her MD in General Medicine from the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences of Bengaluru. Wife of Dr. Shakeel, an assistant professor in Saudi Arabia’s Qassim University dental department and daughter of retired deputy director (NMPT) Khalid Tannirbavi and daughter-in-law of former judge Moosa Kunhi Nayarmule, Dr. Salma is among the 30 doctors selected from across the world for the AAN award.
Dr. Salma’s study in ‘Cerebral Venous Thrombosis’ is fetching her the International Scholarship Award and she has been invited to participate in the annual meeting of international neurologists to be held in Philadelphia in the US in May 2019.
Her Father Khalid Tannirbavi’s joy has no bounds while expressing how hardworking she is.
Dr. Suhana will get 2,500 dollars and award. She said, “If my study is selected, I can present it during the annual meeting. I will receive the communique in February.”
