Mangaluru: Dr. Senthil Vel, Professor and Adviser to Ministry of Environment, forest and climate change, government of India, New Delhi, has been appointed as the Dean of College of Fisheries, Mangalore on a regular basis for a term of four years by Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University, Bidar. Dr. SM Shivaprakash, In Charge Dean handed over the charge to Dr. Senthil Vel on Monday, June 3.
“At a time when College of Fisheries is observing golden jubilee celebrations, it augurs well for the benefit of the college further with the enthusiasm and leadership of Dr. Senthil Vel,” said Dr. SM Shivaprakash to News Karnataka.
Dr. Senthil Vel is an alumnus of College of Fisheries Mangalore and has much experience in administration at various departments in government of India.
Dr. Senthil Vel who did his Masters in Fisheries Science at the College of Fisheries, Mangalore, also holds a Ph. D. from the Institute for Ocean Management, Anna University, Chennai, titled ‘Policies and Framework for Coastal Management in India’.
He has worked as Senior Executive in a Consultancy firm for setting up an Integrated Brackish Water Aquaculture unit at Nellore, Andhra Pradesh before joining the Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change (MoEFCC), Jor Bagh, Aligang, New Delhi, where he worked from 1991 to March 2019.
