Efforts are on to establish AEZ, blue print ready for highways: Nalin Kumar Kateel

Sullia: MP Nalin Kumar Kateel said on Tuesday that, efforts are on to establish a special Agricultural Economic Zone (AEZ) in Sullia taluk and a blue print is also ready to develop and improve the major highways passing through the district.

Addressing press persons in Sullia he said, “Agricultural science centre has been asked to prepare a report on the feasibility which will be sent to Centre for approval to establish a special agricultural zone in Sullia. The AEZ will help to locate agricultural lands for a specific purpose, soil testing, seed and chemical fertilizer distribution. Through the AEZ , farmers will receive the necessary encouragement which will help them to involve in economically viable cultivation to strengthen their financial standing. It will also help to maintain the ecological balance and generate employment”.

Blue print is ready for developing roads

“The blue print is ready for developing major roads and the Central government has allotted funds for the same. The first phase of works on Mangaluru-Bengaluru highway near Shiradi Ghat is complete where as the second phase of works are likely to be completed in a few months. Tenders have been called for the development of Addahole-BC Road four-lane highway, where as Mysuru-Mani four-lane highway survey work is in progress,” he confirmed.

“Apart from the above, a proposal has been sent to develop five roads, in which three have been sanctioned and the remaining two are likely to get approval shortly. Madikeri-Aranthodu-Elimale-Subramanya and Dharmasthal-Guruvayanaker-Karakal roads will be converted to four-lane highways under Bharath Mala scheme,” he added.

Solar Park likely?

Kateel assured that, to enhance electricity generation with due emphasis on environmental protection, a solar park will be established in the Taluk in the future. He also informed that all the problems of landline and mobile telephone users will be resolved soon.

Sullia MLA Angara, taluk panchayath president Harish Kanjipali and other prominent leaders were present.
