Mangaluru: A lady traffic police constable, who would otherwise be seen easing the traffic congestion on daily basis, came as a saviour for an elderly who was silently suffering on the street side.
Bhagyashree, the traffic constable was busy as usual performing her task at Mahakalipadpu, when she got a call from an individual informing her that an elderly is in a sorry state on NH 66 at Nethravathi bridge, near Jeppinamogaru.
Without any delay, Bhagyashree rushed to the spot and saw that the elderly was too weak to even stand on his feet. Soon, she first brought him a bottle of water and fed him some slices of bread and some fruit. She realised that though the elderly’s hunger was pacified, he needed medical care and attention.
When Bhagyashree tried calling the ambulance to ferry the old man to Wenlock hospital, it is said the ambulance team was reluctant. However, she managed to convince the ambulance team and took the elderly to the hospital.
“If we as human beings fail to see and respond to the pain of another human being, we are unfit to be living here,” says Bhagyashree.
She hails from Udupi district and has been posted in Dakshina Kannada since 2017.
