Mangaluru: Months after comparing Ullal to Pakistan, veteran Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat once again stoked controversy by challenging the coastal constituency to elect a non-Muslim MLA in the next election.
Ullal falls under the Mangaluru constituency, which is represented by four-time Congress MLA U T Khader, who belongs to the Muslim community.
As per a report by India Today, Bhat, while once again comparing Ullal with Pakistan on Thursday, challenged Ullal’s constituents to elect a non-Muslim MLA “if they have the guts”.
It can be recalled that in November, Bhat had stirred up controversy by comparing Ullal to Pakistan, which is a Muslim Majority country.
“The Ullal Assembly constituency has become a mini-Pakistan in Mangaluru. Unless Hindus in the region don’t rise above the Muslims, they will continue to dominate a majority of the Hindus,” he said, according to IANS.
Speaking to the media, Bhat said that only in Pakistan such a thing happens where Muslims elect people of their community and even win in Hindu dominated seats.
“Unfortunately in India, this does not happen. Even where Hindus are dominant, leaders of other communities sweep to victory,” he said.
Adding that he did not regret his statement comparing Ullal with Pakistan, he said that cow slaughter and ‘love jihad’ are occurring in Ullal. “If this is not Pakistan, then what is it? What’s the difference between Ullal and Pakistan?” he asked.
Challenging the people of Ullal, he said, “Do you have the guts to elect a non-Muslim MLA? In some places, Hindus elect Muslim and Christian MLAs. This can’t ever happen in Pakistan. It is not possible even in Ullal.”
He said that because there is fear, he stated that Ullal is becoming like Pakistan.
