Mangaluru: The people of Dakshina Kannada take great pride in being the most educated and intelligent district in the state. An educated individual has a more realistic and rational world view. Apparently, some people in this “educated” district still believe that irrational magical rituals and superstitions can make their wishes come true.
Yes! You heard it right. In a shocking revelation, evidences of black magic rituals have been found at the crematorium in Attavar here on May 2.
In a press release, Narendra Nayak, the President of Ferderation of Indian Rationalist Association claimed that a couple of days ago, someone had performed a black magic ritual called “Aghora Kali Smashana Puja” at the crematorium premises. An attendant at the crematorium found a voodoo doll and other artifacts used in the ritual in a small pit, he said. He also claimed that people were afraid to touch these so called “black magic objects.”
It is not clear whether black magic was performed in connection with the elections to be held on May 12. However, finding these artifacts in the middle of the election season has raised many eyebrows.
The press release said that a police complaint was lodged about the incident.
Condemning superstitious beliefs, Nayak announced a challenge to the black magic practitioners. “I will ink a circle around a few hair on my forearm. If they can pluck them using their black magic rituals, I will pay them Rs 10 Lakh! Of course, they will have to deposit 5 percent of the amount as a refundable deposit as I do not want to waste time”, he added.
