Ex-Zilla Panchayat President & BJP leader, succumbs to Cancer

Mangaluru: Sushma Janardhan, former President of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat, aged 56, breathed her last on Monday at her residence in Deralakatte Kayarpalika. She succumbed to a severe battle with cancer.

Hailing from Pilaru in Someshwara village, Sushma emerged victorious in the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat elections through her dedicated work within the BJP. She held the position of zilla panchayat president for a consecutive term. Notably, Sushma Janardhan served her presidency during the tenure of Nagaraj Shetty, a minister in the BJP-JDS 20-20 coalition government.

Sushma had been diagnosed with cancer a few years back, but successful treatment had restored her health, allowing her to actively contribute to party activities. Recently was bedridden, who had been battling colon cancer and passed away on Wednesday.
