Mangaluru: Transgenders have enough to go through without troublemakers adding to their pain, and sadly this is what Mangalore is seeing in recent days. A group of people, falsely portraying themselves as transgenders, have been harassing the public for money and performing a variety of illegal activities.
The situation has escalated to an extent where Mangalore deputy commissioner Mullai Muhilan has now come forward to look into the matter and investigate the case. Officials are now looking into the complaints that people have made against these many instances.
These individuals seemed to have arrived from outside and on the pretense of being transgenders, would go about fooling the people of the town, dressing up as boys in the day and then as girls at night, to cause confusion and worry among those around in the place.
More importantly, the situation has been posing a genuine problem for real transgenders in the place, who are naturally beginning to lose trust from those around them.
It is in this light that the transgenders have now come forward with a plea that the state takes stern action against these mischief makers who seem to be taking their place.
DC has come forward with the decision of providing ID cards. The women and child department has already begun working towards this end to help all transgender organizations, stating that the identification cards will be ready in a couple of months.
Transgenders can now also enjoy a scheme to build houses and will have some health checkups. The police have decided to handle the matter with utmost sensitivity and care.
