Fieldwork in Social Work Education book released

Mangaluru: Olinda Pereira, Founder Principal of Roshni Nilaya College and Director of Vishwas Trust released “Fieldwork in Social Work Education”, a manual for educators and students by Joselyn T Lobo here at Maria Paiva Hall on September 23.

Speaking on the occasion, Olinda Pereira said that the book would be very useful for students and social workers. Social education has many passives-there is good and bad and it depends upon the individual how they practise social work, she added.

“This book will provide direction in the field of social work. There is very less literature available, particularly on field work and the book written by Joselyn will provide direction for the professionals and her contribution will be welcomed all over the country. Knowledge from being on field could not be learnt from anywhere else”, she said.

Author Joselyn T Lobo thanked the publishers and those who supported him in writing the book. Regarding the book, he said it contains seven chapters. The book also gives an idea what exactly the field work is. While there are few books available on field work, they are are commercial oriented and not affordable for students whereas this book is priced at Rs 150. The target audience is not just social work students but others too who maybe interested in the field.

Lakshmi Narayana Bhat registrar, who stated brief history of Roshni Nilaya College said that Roshni Nilaya are the pioneers of social work in Karnataka. “Manual is something that which tell us what to do, how to do it. Joselyn T Lobo’s manual is no way inferior to standard manuals published by the western universities abroad,” he added.
