First COVID death in DK: Bantwal woman dies before COVID test report arrives

Mangaluru: A 50-year-old woman from Bantwal, who died owing to respiratory issues on Sunday, April 19 has been tested positive for COVID-19.

A communication from the district Deputy Commissioner confirmed that the lady was tested positive for COVID-19.

According to the sources, the woman was admitted to the hospital on Saturday as she had respiratory problems.

Her throat swabs were sent for tests, but even before the reports could be out the lady breathed her last on Sunday afternoon.

The DC has informed that the last rites of the lady will be performed as per the COVID-19 guidelines.

This is the first death in the district and 15th death of the state.
