Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district administration is in the process of seeking the details of over 1,400 people from Kerala, who were treated at the First Neuro Hospital in Padil in the recent past.

This is being done in an attempt to solve the mystery behind the source of the spread of COVID-19 at the First Neuro Hospital.

It can be noted that 18 people who came in contact with this hospital tested positive for COVID-19 recently, five of whom have succumbed. By the time the hospital was sealed down after the first positive case was reported from here, more than 1,200 people from Kerala had already received treatment at the same hospital between February 1 and April 22 as out-patients.

Meanwhile, a total of 177 people received treatment as in-patients at the hospital. In order to find the source of the spread of COVID-19, it is very essential to trace the details of these Kerala-based patients.

The Dakshina Kannada district administration has already written a letter to the state government, which in turn is expected to write to the Kerala government seeking the required information.

It is said that a team of experts from the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) is likely to study the First Neuro Hospital case as 18 coronavirus cases have been traced back to this place.
