Five CFAL students excel at National Talent Search Examination

Mangaluru: Five students from Mangaluru have successfully cleared the final stage of National Level NTSE 2016-2017 Examination.

These students who have undertaken training at Centre For Advanced Learning (CFAL), Mangalore were among the 922 students selected from across the country of which 66 students hailed from Karnataka.

The NTSE examinations, conducted by the National Council for Education and research, (NCERT) test the analytical and logical skills of a student and a good understanding of the subject is needed to yield results.

These successful students are called ‘NTS SCHOLARS’ and will be eligible for a scholarship of Rs.15,000/-per annum for I and II PUC ; Rs. 24,000/- p.a. for under-graduation and post-graduation studies and later according to the UGC rules until they finish their Ph.D. NTSE scheme covers areas like sciences, social sciences, engineering, medicine, management and law. www.ncert.nic.in

The selection process for NTSE is held in two stages viz state-level and national-level. As many as 81,489 students had appeared for the State Level (Stage 1) exam held on November 6, 2016 from Karnataka this year. Of this only 224 students were selected by the Department of State Education and Research Training (DSERT). The candidates qualifying the Stage 1 from different states are eligible for appearing in the Stage-2 exam. Each year around 4,000 students from the country are selected from Stage-I to appear in the second stage of the examination.

NTSE is a flagship activity of NCERT in the direction of nation building for identifying and assisting around 1000 most-talented students studying in X standard all over India, year after year and nurturing them through generous scholarships and opportunities.

The application forms for the competitive exams are available in the BEO (Block Education Officer) and the last date for application is September 21. Website: dsert.kar.nic.in
