FMCI bids farewell to its outgoing President Bishop Aloysius D’Souza

Mangaluru: Outgoing Bishop of Mangalore Diocese and President of Fr. Mullers Charitable Institutions Most Rev. Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza was given an emotional farewell by the management, governing body members, faculty, staff, and students of the institution at the Decennial Memorial Hall on August 21.

Bishop Aloysius D’Souza who has been the President of FMCI since 1996 was instrumental in taking the institutions to the present heights with a lot of developments and initiatives keeping in mind the motto of the institutions – Heal and Comfort.

Addressing the gathering after receiving the farewell, Bishop said “A small charitable act of healing the leprosy patients under a banyan tree has transformed into one of the best medical care providers today. This journey has taken 137 years and the God has guided, strengthened us and protected us in this mission. I too had an opportunity to give my service to the institution and the invisible hand of God has helped me in doing this for the last 22 years.”

Recollecting his own experience when he was the Rector of St. Joseph’s seminary the outgoing Bishop said, “Service and dedication to heal the sick and comfort them by every single staff of this institution is the speciality of this place.” He expressed his gratitude to all the people who have toiled to make this institution a best medical care institution.

Bishop-elect Msgr. Peter Paul Saldanha, Director of Fr. Muller Charitable Institutions Fr. Richard Coelho, Vicar General of the Diocese Denis Moras Prabhu and others were present.

Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza and Vicar General Msgr. Dennis Moras Prabhu who is also the vice president of FMCI were also felicitated for their service to the institutions.

Director of Father Muller Charitable Institution Fr. Richard Coelho welcomed the gathering, administrator Fr. Rudolph Ravi D’Sa proposed a vote of thanks and Dr. Nicole Periera compered the programme.
