Mangaluru: To mark ‘World Hearing Day’, Father Muller College of Speech and Hearing, in association with Dr M V Shetty Speech and Hearing College and A J College of Speech and Hearing, organised a mega walkathon in the city on Tuesday, March 3.
This mega walkathon began near the Milagres Church and was jointly flagged-off by Milagres Church parish priest Rev Fr Joseph Lobo and Professor of Physiotherapy and Syndicate member of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences U T Ifthikar Ali. Later, the walkathon arrived at the Forum Fiza Mall.
Hundreds of students participated in the event.
Addressing the gathering, U T Ifthikar Ali said, “Good hearing health and communication will help connect people to each other and the world. Those suffering from hearing loss can get access to education, employment and communication with appropriate and timely interventions. The walkathon was organised in order to create awareness among the public about speech and hearing and to get timely treatment for those who are suffering from speech and hearing loss.”
Milagres Church parish priest Rev Fr Joseph Lobo wished for the programme’s success. During the valedictory programme, Pandeshwar Police Inspector Ananth Murdeshwar said, “People should avoid noise pollution and should educate themselves on how to prevent the same.”
AJ Speech and Hearing College HOD Dr Rashmi Desai, Father Muller Speech and Hearing College Principal Dr Akhilesh, Nitte Institute of Speech and Hearing HOD Shwetha, Dr M V Shetty Speech and Hearing College HOD Sathish and others were present.
