Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh has cautioned of taking stringent action against those who violate the quarantine guidelines and directions of the district administration in containment zones.
As the COVID-19 cases have been rapidly increasing in the district, DC Sindhu B Rupesh in a video message has informed that those who had been advised by the health department to undergo home quarantine are wandering outside which causes infection to others. “District administration has already filed FIR against 54 such people already. Strict actions will be taken against those who violate quarantine guidelines,” she said.
“As the number of cases has been increasing day after day, the containment zones also are increasing. DK district has over 100 containment zones. The residents of containment zones should not come out from their areas. They should follow strictly the guidelines which are issued by the health department,” Sindhu stressed.
Informing about the total number of cases in district Sindhu said, “The total number of cases in DK district has reached 576 now. Over 3,500 people had come from abroad and other states in the month of June only. Among them, 300 people have tested positive for COVID-19. The cases related to SARI and ILI also are increasing now.”
“Though there is relaxation on lockdown, people should not venture out from their houses without an emergency situation. ” she urged.
