Mangaluru: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah will visit flood-hit areas of Dakshina Kannada district and console the flood victims on Saturday, August 31.

As the opposition leaders have been blaming union government for not taking any measures to release the compensation to the flood victims of Karnataka and the state government unable to convince the central government to release the compensation, the scheduled visit of former chief minister has gained prominence now.

Informing about the visit of Siddaramaiah to district, former MLA Moideen Bava, on Friday, August 30 said he would arrive at Mangalore International Airport (MIA) at around 10 am and he would visit the flood victims of Mandara and Pachanady area, where around 27 families are suffering as heaps of wastes from the dumping yard have started sliding into the localities. These families have been given shelter at Karnataka Housing Board Colony in Kulashekara now. After taking stock of the information from the victims at Pachanady, he would move to Bantwal and Belthangady taluk to meet the flood victims. During Siddaramaiah’s visit all flood victims should be present and place their grievances, which would help him to mount pressure on both state and central government to release compensation, he said.

In the evening, Siddaramaiah would address party workers at Town Hall at around 3 pm and discuss about Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) election, which is likely to be held in the month of October.

Congress leaders Prathibha Kulai, Surendra Kamath and Anil were present.
