Mangaluru: Urging that the price of cooking gas be decreased, former minister B Ramanath Rai said that the state government has miserably failed to respond to the grievances of the public.

Speaking to reporters here on Friday, February 14, Rai said that the price of domestic gas has increased by Rs 145 after the Delhi elections. “When the Congress government was in power and it had no other choice but to increase the price of gas by just a few rupees, BJP leaders staged a severe protest. Now how have they increased the price by Rs 145 for a cylinder all of a sudden?” he questioned.

Commenting on the natural calamities in the state, Rai said that not a single rupee from the MLA grant was released even though the state has witnessed several natural calamities. “Under the Udyoga Khatri Yojana, Rs 2,800 crores is pending from the Union Government to the state. Under the GST sharing also, the state’s share of Rs 30,000 crore is still pending. People from poor financial backgrounds are striving hard to lead a happy life despite skyrocketing prices of grocery items, electricity bill and others,” he lamented.

Leaders Shashidhar Hegde, Naveen D Souza and others were present.
