Mangaluru: Fr Victor George D’Souza has been appointed as the new Chancellor of the Diocese of Mangalore and took charge on 21 November 2018 during a short ceremony held at the Bishops House chapel presided over by the Bishop of Mangalore Diocese Most Rev. Dr Peter Paul Saldanha.
Fr Victor George D’Souza was born in Balkunje and was ordained as Priest in 1986. He served as the Assistant Parish Priest at Milagres and Belman Parishes. He did his Studies in Canon Law at St Paul University, Ottawa, Canada. He has served as the Professor of Canon law at St Peter Pontifical Institute Bangalore, as Visiting Professor at St Joseph’s Seminary Jeppu Mangalore, as the Judicial Vicar of Mangalore Diocese and served in the ecclesiastical tribunal for 20 years.
He has edited many books and written articles. He is the editor of Indian theological studies and Studies in Church Law. He is the Canonical adviser for many dioceses in India and abroad and also serves as the Professor and head of Chair in Christianity at Pastoral Institute, Bajjodi.
He replaced Fr Henry Sequeira, the outgoing Chancellor of Mangalore Diocese who served in this position for 12 years.
