Mangaluru: The I-Day celebration turned out to a heavy frisking session in Mangaluru and the same attitude of the police prompted the photojournalists to boycott the event on Monday morning.
The busy photojournalists rushed to Nehru Maidan on Monday morning to cover the I-Day celebration, but to their dismay, they were instructed by the policemen about the restrictions.
After checking, the photographers were told to gain entry into the venue from another entry point, to which most of them obliged. But, when they started their work, the policemen again waylaid them, telling them not to cross a certain line and also stay away from clicking the flag hoisting and parade pictures. Raged by this, the photojournalists of Mangaluru packed their bags and decided to leave.
The attitude of the policemen remained to be the same even when the matter was brought to the notice of the district in-charge Minister Ramanath Rai, said the photojournalists.
