Mangaluru: Dr Kiran Kumar, Mangaluru based psychiatrist, who treated DySP Ganapathi for his stressed-induced problems, in an interview has said that Ganapathi did not have suicidal tendencies.
Speaking to a television, Dr Kumar said that Ganapathi had come to him about a month ago and when he tried to understand the case, Ganapathi said that he was immensely under pressure, which he justified saying that it was normal in the department that he was associated with.
However, the doctor said that when he dug deeper into the case, Ganapathi only spoke about the probes initiated against him on an encounter case and Mangaluru Church attack case.
“He was normal in terms of his speech and body language. He was not distraught. He only had mild depression. It had not reached the severe stage that Ganapathi would succumb to it and take decision of ending life. He was feeling much better over the last two weeks,” the psychiatrist said.
This comes as a contradiction to Ganapathi’s brother’s claims that the prior was hallucinating and was hence making baseless statements.
However, Ganapathi’s wife Pawana had stated that though her husband did not have any mental ailments, he was under immense pressure within the department and from political figures, whose names he had revealed in an interview before ending life.
