Kasargod: In recent times, people have been shying away from agriculture and dairy farming to embrace urban life. But Mohammed, a bus owner from Perla Badur is an exception.
Mohammed turned to dairy farming and has tasted considerable success in his endeavour. He has been breeding variety of cattle and currently has 35 in total under his care. The cattle species include Jersey, Red Sinddi, Gir, HF and few more.
Mohammed became a habitual dairy farmer without seeking substantial returns from his effort. But to surprise many, he gets 250 litres of milk daily and earns lakhs of rupees in return.
When people are migrating from rural areas to cities in search of greener pastures and when cows are illegally led into slaughter houses with utter disdain, Mohammed’s efforts to breed cattle is noteworthy. Incurring monthly expenses of Rs 1.5 Lakh on an average, Mohammed is sowing the seeds of peace quietly in a trouble torn region, where few communal elements are always on the prowl to inflict Gau terror.
Mohammed is undeterred despite the state government not providing any subsidy but continues with his hobby of breeding cows which gives him more happiness than profits!
