Mangaluru: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing Gauri Lankesh murder case has made some startling revelations.

In its details submitted to the court, the SIT has said that the group which killed Gauri also had its eye on President of Federation of Indian Rationalist Associations, Narendra Nayak.

Rajesh Bangera, who had trained the extremists in shooting, to execute Gauri Lankesh’s murder plot has revealed that Nayak was followed for at least two days and his residence too was under surveillance.

Mohan, Yathin, Yathish and Kumud were four persons who underwent arms training. One of them was deployed to keep a watch on movements of Narendra Nayak in Mangaluru.

Amol Kale, the prime accused in Gauri’s murder had made an entry in his diary, which stated, “KA new practice and deployment”. The diary had mentioned about their targets- writer and author Prof. Bhagawan, rationalist Narendra Nayak, anti-superstition campaigner Swami Nijugunanand and playwright Girish Karnad.

The diary also had nicknames “Govinda” and “Builder” for Ganesh Miskin and Parashuram Waghmore. They even had nicknames for the targets and sources said that “Driver” was the nickname for Narendra Nayak, “Fruits” for Swami Nijugunanand, “Laundry” for Girish Karnad.

It is also now understood that the group, which was almost close to executing its plan to kill Prof Bhagawan, had its plan disrupted as the SIT officials had got a breakthrough in the Gauri Lankesh murder case.

The Karnataka police have filed a separate case on the ones who plotted to murder Bhagawan and seven of 18 accused in Gauri Lankesh murder case have been charged.

A 9,235 page chargesheet has been filed by the SIT on 16 arrested and two absconders who have carried out the murder on Gauri Lankesh based on the book titled “Kshatra Dharma Sadhana” published under Sanatan Sanstha.
