Dharmasthala: Dr. Corrine Steiner, professor of Department of Indology, Wurzburg University, Germany and a researcher on Nandinagari script visited Dharmasthala on Friday, October 14 and felicitated Dr Vighnaraj from Dharmasthala, who translated ancient manuscript into Kannada.

Dr Steiner had found an ancient manuscript where the writing was in Nandinagari script. On examining the script she learnt that the manuscript was pertaining to ‘Kala Jnana’, writings on astrology. When Prof. Steiner wanted to translate the script into Kannada, Folklorist and Tulu Expert Dr. B A Vivek Rai had suggested her to meet Vighnaraj from Dharmasthala. Accordingly, Dr. Steiner contacted Dr. D Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Sri Kshethra Dharmasthala and sent across the manuscript as well. The manuscript was ably translated into Kannada by Vighnaraj.

On the completion of the same, Dr. Steiner, Dr. Rai among others visited Dharmasthala on Friday and honoured Vighnaraj for his dedication and contribution in presence of Dr Heggade.
